Medical Services

We care for patients with many different types of conditions and ailments on the Medical Unit, and a variety of physicians may collaborate for your care including your primary care physician, admitting physician, specialists and hospitalists - physicians who work in the hospital setting exclusively. Depending on the severity of the illness or condition, patients may be cared for in Intensive Care or in another unit. Below are but a few of the conditions treated on our medical floor.

Gastroenterology

When a person experiences severe abdominal pain or a condition affecting the abdomen, they can turn to gastroenterology services. This branch of medicine focuses on the treatment of conditions affecting the digestive system including the esophagus, stomach, large and small intestine, gall bladder and pancreas.

The medical professionals at Wyoming Medical Center are trained to diagnose and treat specific digestive system conditions including acute heartburn, ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease (including colitis and Crohn’s Disease) and many others.

Infectious Disease

An infectious disease is an illness or infection that a patient contracts either through exposure or as a result of an organ transplant or other surgical procedure. Infectious diseases can be serious and even life-threatening. Our specialists and staff care for patients with infections of the skin, bone and joints as well as patients with pneumonia, hepatitis, HIV and many other infections.

Nephrology

A problem with the kidneys can result in significant changes to your life. Our nephrology care team strives to provide the best possible care for patients experiencing problems related to the kidneys.

Many diseases affecting the kidneys are systemic disorders not limited to the organ itself and may require special treatment. The two most common causes of kidney failure, according to the National Kidney Foundation, are diabetes and high blood pressure, both of which can be controlled with proper treatment.

Common kidney diseases treated at Wyoming Nephrology, a Wyoming Medical Center clinic, or in the hospital include acute renal failure or kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hematuria or blood in the urine, kidney stones and others.
